This position requires access to information controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the successful candidate must be a "U.S. person" as defined in the ITAR and EAR (which generally means (i) be a citizen or national of the United States; or (ii) be a lawful permanent resident of the United States; or (iii) have been admitted to the United States as a refugee, or have been granted asylum, as specified under applicable law.

 

Main Functions
Work with product engineers to identify, develop and release new materials/processes and tooling for semiconductors, aerospace, medical, and industrial applications. Be the resident SME for existing and new materials to support customer escalations. Be the contact point and support in timely manner manufacturing to analyze root cause, propose and implement corrective actions (immediate, and longer-term), and document any manufacturing out of specifications problem reported by manufacturing operation (operator, supervisors, managers) on existing and new materials. Design and improve new and existing material stacks, structuring, and combinations to fulfill application requirements. Manage process transfer to manufacturing through gate and exit process, including process description, process limits, and specifications, work instructions, and training. Ability to provide ROI analysis of alternate methods, processes, or equipment, and create executive summaries.

 

Typical Duties

  • Work with engineering leader to help develop the material engineering roadmap
  • Responsible for phase 1 (exploration) and 2 (proof of concept) of PLC, including IP survey and application domain
  • Identify, select, and recommend materials based on weight, strength, heat and cold tolerance, cost and durability
  • Participate in market evaluation with sales and strategic marketing
  • Lead characterization of materials (internal and competition), perform DoE's very applicable
  • Lead the product/process transfer to manufacturing and help to address customer escalations
  • Work with QA/QC procedures and safety

Preferred Skills

  • A hands-on aptitude
  • Process Engineering knowledge
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100 or ISO 13485

 

Education Requirements

  • PhD or Master’s in physics/chemistry

 

Experience Requirements

2+ years in material development experience in one or more related industry areas: tape, insulation, composite, silicone, and thermal insulating/conducting materials are preferred
