Job Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Assistant is responsible for performing the electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry skills required to install and repair equipment. Other responsibilities include maintaining and improving the facility to meet the company's business commitments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform the required functions for maintaining, replacing, and repairing equipment.
  • Perform the required functions for the maintenance and renovations of the facilities.
  • Follow priorities as established by the Facilities Maintenance Manager.
  • Coordinate specialized outside maintenance services as may be required to maintain or assist in the maintenance activities.
  • Advise management concerning the technical aspects of the assigned projects.
  • Provide management with time and cost estimates as they relate to the scope of the project.
  • Purchase directly or in conjunction with purchasing department replacement parts, spare parts and miscellaneous parts that may be required to maintain the equipment and facilities.
  • Inspect the facility regularly for maintenance needs and for safety hazards.
  • Maintain an organized, safe and clean work area
  • Participate and contribute to any red bead, quality or production meeting.
  • Be open and receptive to new ideas, programs and changes initiated by the company.
  • Motivate and encourage staff and fellow employees.
  • Demonstrate initiative to increase individual and staff knowledge and responsibility.
  • Follow company policies

  • Trouble shoot down equipment
  • Maintain equipment PM schedules

Required Skills

  • Lock out tag procedure
  • Basic mechanical, electrical and plumbing knowledge

Preferred Skills

Wide experience with multiple power and hand tools, ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical applications. Strong fabricating skills.

Experience Requirements

Minimum of eight (2) years of experience in a manufacturing environment in a similar position

Education Requirements

High School Diploma, G.E.D. or five (5) years' work experience plus two (2) years related technical training program/military technical training.

Physical Requirements

  • Manual Dexterity - The ability to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects and perform maintenance tasks.
  • Correctable Vision and Hearing.
  • Ability to stand/walk and perform physical labor for most of the working shift. Pull, push, squat. etc. to accomplish repairs.
  • Intermittently lift loads of up to 50 pounds.
